Fabulist/Magical Realist/Horror Author

Couri Johnson is from Youngstown, Ohio, where she received a Master in Fine Arts in creative writing from the NeoMFA. She went on to teach in Japan for four years, before returning to the States to get her Ph.D. in creative writing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She’s worked as an educator for ten years, as well as on university and indie publications.

Her short story collection, I’ll Tell You a Love Story, is available through Bridge Eight Press. She has two books forthcoming - The Girl Who, with Gateway Literary Press, and Feraltales with Aqueduct Press. Her short fiction has won TulipTree’s Wild Women Contest, admission into the Juniper Writing Conference, and placed as a finalist in Omnidawn’s Fabulist Fiction contest.

She’s an avid lover of fairytales, horror and all things strange. She’s currently living back among the woods in Ohio with her three cats and working as a writer.
